Ford's BlueOval Battery Park Michigan in Marshall has hired more than 100 employees and is already paying property taxes, according to a community announcement.
The facility, which is expected to begin production next year, is projected to employ 1,700 workers. Ford's subsidiary, BlueOval Battery Michigan LLC, took ownership of the 500-acre site late last year, making it the city's largest industrial property owner.
When construction is complete, Ford is expected to pay an estimated $5 million in local property taxes to various taxing authorities. The city of Marshall will receive more than $2 million annually in new tax revenue, while Marshall Township will receive more than $383,000 annually, compared to the approximately $21,000 in annual revenue it received prior to the construction
