QUAD CITIES, Iowa/Ill. (KWQC) - Brown, crunchy grass and dry conditions continue to persist across the Quad Cities Area and beyond.
Most of Illinois is in an abnormally dry to severe drought category, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Portions of Southeast Iowa are also beginning to find themselves in abnormally dry conditions.
KWQC First Alert Meteorologist Cyle Dickens said while fall is normally a dry time of year, all the rain the area saw in July is also playing a factor in the current dry conditions.
“Since then, we really haven’t had anything that has been exceedingly measurable,” he said. “We get those little rains, maybe drops of 0.05 of an inch, maybe a 0.10 of an inch at best? And that’s it.”
