CINCINNATI —

Cincinnati police are investigating after a fatal shooting in Evanston on Friday night, just blocks away from Xavier University.

Police responded to the area of Montgomery Road and Brewster Avenue around 8 p.m.

Police blocked off part of Montgomery Road, near Brewster Avenue, while the Homicide Unit was on scene.

Shortly after, police say a gunshot victim arrived at University Hospital with where he died from his injuries.

He has been identified as 25-year-old Jawan Tyree Bates.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Cincinnati police.
