WYTHEVILLE, Va. – When in doubt, Isaac Smith put trust in his feet, arm, and best friend – all in that order.

That trifecta of trust combined for quite the fourth-quarter rally at Pendleton Field Friday.

The George Wythe sophomore quarterback piled up 119 yards over the final 10 minutes, as the Maroons – capped by Cade Bralley’s two-yard score with 4:16 left – reeled off 12 consecutive points to secure a stunning 33-32 Wythe County decision over visiting Rural Retreat.

“We just had to do what we needed to do in order to win this game,” said Smith, who racked up 60 percent of his total completions over a critical six-minute stretch. “This was really big, especially since that was a very good team we played.”
