Drunk driver told officer twice he was on his way to pick up his son, who was asleep in the back seat: Beachwood

BEACHWOOD, Ohio --

At 2 a.m. Sept. 20, an officer on patrol noticed a pickup truck that did not move when the traffic signal turned green as the vehicle was stopped on South Woodland Road, at Richmond Road.

The officer walked up to the truck and saw that the male driver was asleep. In the back seat was a small child, also asleep.

The officer asked the man where he was driving from, and the man answered, “Downtown.”

He said he was on his way to his mother’s house to pick up his child. The officer had to tell the man twice that his child was in the back seat before the man turned around, saw the boy, and exclaimed, “Oh, (expletive).”
