MONTCLAIR — The Canyon Springs football team set the tone from the very first play from scrimmage Friday night.
Angel Robles threw deep for a 61-yard completion to Eyan Quinones, setting up the first touchdown, and the Cougars went on to rout host Montclair 39-13 in a nonleague game.
“We just knew with the coverage we had seen on film, one of our favorite plays was going to work right away,” Canyon Springs coach Kyle McFadden said. “We’ve run that play all spring, summer, 7-on-7. We had that ready to go since Monday.”
The Cougars’ passing game was on point all night, with Robles completing 12 of 21 passes for 223 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
But despite the early touchdown drive, which was capped by a 5-yard touchdown run on fourth down by Andre Larry that made it 6-0,
