Ocean City has been at odds over what to do with the former Gillian's Wonderland since its closure in October.

City Council seemed poised Thursday to approve a resolution sending to the Planning Board the question of whether the former amusement park should be declared a redevelopment zone.

Instead, council voted 5-1 to table the motion, with no timeline to bring it back for a vote.

Soon after it closed in October 2024, developer Eustace Mita, who owns the property along with the Icona hotel chain and the Achristavest home building company, made public a proposal for a 252-room hotel at the site.
