Michigan’s median income increased by 4.6% in 2024, twice the national average, according to numbers released this month by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The state’s estimated median household income for 2024 was $72,389, up from $69,183 a year earlier.
But the state continues to lag behind the national median, which was $81,604 in 2024. Household incomes nationwide were up an average of 2.3%.
The Census estimates came from its annual American Community Survey. The data released included income estimates for states as well as counties, cities and townships with at least 65,000 residents.
