RORY MCILROY had the perfect response to the abusive Ryder Cup crowd.

The European talisman is pantomime villain No1 at Bethpage Black.

He secured 1½ points on Friday with a win in the foursomes - but missed out on a win in the fourballs when he could not sink a putt on the last.

And the rowdy American fans could not wait to hurl abuse at him once again on Saturday morning.

Even before the first match at soon after 7am, the grandstand audience repeatedly chanted "f*** you, Rory" - after an embarrassing failed chanting lesson from the MC.

And the volume and vitriol intensified when McIlroy came out for the second foursomes match - once again alongside Tommy Fleetwood .
