It was a tough first day of golf for the American team, as Europe heads into the second day of the event with a huge 5.5-2.5 lead, and looking to bring the Ryder Cup trophy back to Europe for another year, after having won the event last year, too. Out of the four morning foursomes, Team Europe took three of them. In the afternoon, the Europeans also took 2.5 points from four-ball play. All that Europe needs now is 8.5 points, and it will be able to retain the Ryder Cup. If Europe and the USA draw this weekend, Europe retains the Cup.
