A serious incident unfolded in Cardiff early on Saturday morning when a car crashed into a group of pedestrians. South Wales Police responded to the scene on Heol Trelai in Caerau just before 12.30am. Initial reports indicate that three individuals were struck by the vehicle, with one person sustaining serious injuries that may be life-changing.

A local resident, who witnessed the event, described the moments leading up to the crash. "It happened on the grass verge in the middle of the carriageway directly outside the Homeguard. It was the usual sight - people fighting. Then a car comes up and ploughs into some of them. I saw it from my bedroom window. If you lived here you wouldn't be surprised," the witness recounted.

In a statement, a spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed the details of the incident. "South Wales Police was called just before 12.30am this morning, Saturday, September 27, with a report that the driver of a car had collided with several pedestrians on Heol Trelai in Caerau area of Cardiff. Currently, we believe that three people were struck by the car, with one person suffering serious injuries that may be life-changing."

To facilitate a thorough investigation, police have established a large cordon around the area. The road is currently closed in both directions between Caerau Lane and Church Road.
