BRIDGEWATER, N.H. —

A retired New Hampshire State Police captain and U.S. Army Ranger is set to run more than 200 miles from Pittsburgh to Nashua over 10 days to raise awareness about resources available for struggling veterans and first responders.

Arron Rochette, a volunteer firefighter and Marine Corps veteran, found solace at Camp Resilience , which offers retreats for veterans and first responders in New Hampshire's Lakes Region.

"The horse is the silent healer," Rochette said. "He doesn't ask you anything. So, you can let down your guard with the horse, and he's going to listen to you."

Rochette shared his struggles with trauma, PTSD and anxiety.
