A 24 year old police constable has passed away a week after sustaining injuries whilst responding to a vehicle collision.

Northamptonshire Pc Faizaan Najeeb was attending a single-vehicle crash in Station Road, Raunds, at approximately 12.35am on September 19 when he was struck by a blue VW Polo.

Pc Najeeb was transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge but passed away in the early hours of Friday, Northamptonshire Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet confirmed.

A man in his twenties who was detained at the scene of the collision has been released on bail whilst further enquiries continue.

Pc Najeeb had been serving with the response team in Wellingborough since joining Northamptonshire Police.
