A man has died while seven others have been taken to hospital following a carbon monoxide incident at a takeaway shop. ‌

Emergency services raced to the premises on Cresswell Crescent in Bloxwich following concerns for a man's welfare at 9.40pm on Friday. Crews attended and a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene. ‌

Seven others, including emergency staff, were treated at the scene for the effects of inhaling the gas . A number of people were then taken to hospital following exposure to the suspected carbon monoxide. ‌

Local residents were evacuated as a precaution and have since been allowed to return to their homes.
