Postal workers walked the picket line for the first full day of the nationwide strike on Friday (Sept. 26).

On Thursday afternoon, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers announced that all its members were on strike, effective immediately, in response to what it said was "the Government’s attack on our postal service and workers."

Earlier in the day on Thursday, the federal government directed Canada Post to end door-to-door home delivery, among other recommendations from a report in the spring from the Industrial Inquiry Commission , to save costs.
