A sheriff’s deputy appeared to deploy pepper spray into a fan’s face during Turnstile ’s September 24th concert in Richmond, Virginia. The incident occurred as the band performed “Birds” and urged fans to join them on stage.
As captured in a fan video, a sheriff’s deputy at the front of the stage is seen pulling fans down as Turnstile bassist Franz Lyons and singer Brendan Yates are helping others onto the stage, with Lyons intervening when a security guard tried to stop other fans from joining the band. The deputy is holding what appears to be a canister of pepper spray and fires it directly in the face of an attendee as attempts to climb onto the stage. Lyons is visibly affected by the spray and quickly guides Yates away from the chemical cloud. Watch the video below.
