FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne hosted a Dystonia Zoo Day on Saturday.
The event began at 11 a.m. at the Franke #1 Pavilion near the Fort Wayne Zoo.
Organizers say the event was held to bring awareness to dystonia, a rare movement disorder that causes involuntary muscle contractions that result in abnormal posture, cramps, and/or slow repetitive movements.
The event also served as a fundraiser, accepting donations for research efforts conducted by the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
Fort Wayne was one of 10 cities to host a Dystonia Zoo Day in 2025.
The event marks the culmination of September’s Dystonia Awareness Month.
