WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal authorities have seized more than 2.1 million unauthorized flavored e-cigarettes in a crackdown on illicit vaping products, the Justice Department announced this week .

The seizures targeted five distributors and six retailers across seven states after investigators found they continued selling unapproved electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) products despite repeated Food and Drug Administration warnings, the DOJ said. Court filings accuse the companies of ignoring federal law requiring premarket authorization for new tobacco products.

According to the DOJ, the U.S. Marshals Service, working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other agencies, carried out the raids. Officials said many of the products were smuggled from China
