US President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of War to use “full force” to secure the city of Portland, Oregon.

Trump confirmed on Saturday he will be “authorising full force, if necessary,” following intensifying protests against the federal ICE detention facility in Portland.

“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,” Mr Trump declared on Truth Social.

“I am also authorising Full Force, if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson, responded to Trump's order and said the number of necessary troops “is zero”
