A semi-truck trailer fire shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near the Lyon-Coffey County line Saturday afternoon, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and emergency crews were dispatched around 12:34 p.m. to mile marker 142, where they found a trailer fully engulfed in flames. The semi-truck was disconnected from the burning trailer, which was hauling produce, officials said.

The driver, identified as 44-year-old Ricardo Amaya of Douglas, Arizona, reported seeing smoke from the passenger-side trailer axle before the fire spread. Amaya was not injured.
