Colorful artistic pieces of all shapes and sizes decorated downtown Emporia Saturday, as the Emporia Arts Council (EAC) Chalk Fest made its return for the second consecutive year.

The event, brought back after a 15-year hiatus, invited artists to use chalk as a creative tool along the 800 block of Commercial Street. Sarah Barrett, Gallery & Art Store Coordinator, said that the event was revived last year as a way to bring the medium to Emporia.

New this year, an artist market began at 4:00 p.m., giving artists a chance to sell their craft and highlight their work. Barrett described this addition as another way to promote the arts.
