COLUMBIA — After Mizzou Students for Justice in Palestine sued the University of Missouri to appear in this year's Homecoming parade, some complications continued despite its win in court.
Lily Dunn, the president of MSJP, said that at around 8 a.m., MSJP was stopped by the Mizzou Alumni Association because of a poster placed on the float to celebrate an alumnus from Gaza.
The poster read "MU alum Mohammed Al Jamal says hello from Gaza." It was placed on the front of the MSJP float.
"(It was) very within theme, black and gold, celebrating the MU alum. And the (alumni) association came in, specifically Todd McCubbin, and he said that no, that is not acceptable, we cannot celebrate this Mizzou alumni because he hadn't approved it," Dunn said.
