Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe posted to Facebook to addresses the early morning shooting in the 900 block of East Broadway.

In the post, Buffaloe said she is convening a task force of city, county, university, business and community leaders to address safety in downtown Columbia.

Buffaloe added that the city of Columbia and the Columbia Police Department added eight additional officers to the night shift in June.

According to the Facebook post, these officers have made over 300 enforcement actions. Buffaloe said because of their work, downtown Columbia has not had a shooting since June.

"But one incident is one too many," Buffaloe said.

Three people were injured in the Saturday morning shooting, and police arrested Misael Covarrubias in connection with the shooting.
