CARTER COUNTY, Tenn - (WJHL) - The Carter County Recovery Group hosted a prayer vigil this morning at Hampton Elementary School to remember when Hurricane Helene struck the region one year ago.
The vigil, which included a candlelit ceremony, drew over 100 people.
The event included a time of remembrance, with thanks to volunteers, churches, and agencies that provided relief and brought the community together through scriptures, worship music, and testimonies.
In attendance were four pastors delivering special sermons for the disaster victims: "Testimonies of Resilience," "God's Provision," "Strength for the Weary," and "Hope for the Future."
