South Dakota State football improved to 5-0 on the season with a 51-7 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The No. 2 Jackrabbits started out hot and never relented, scoring 17 points in the opening quarter and opening up a 23-7 lead at the half. In the second half, South Dakota State outscored the Lakers, 28-0 to cruise to an undefeated 4-0 start to the season.
SDSU quarterback Chase Mason tossed 21 completions on 29 attempts for 321 yards and three scores. His top target on the day was Grahm Goering, who hauled in seven passes for 101 yards. Three different wideouts, Alex Bullock, Jack Smith and Lofton O'Groske, found the end zone for scores.
