The Red Sox can get the No. 5 seed by: Beating the Tigers on Sunday OR the Guardians lose to Texas. Boston would travel to play either the Yankees or Blue Jays.
The Red Sox would be the sixth seed if : They lose to Detroit on Sunday and Cleveland beats Texas.
The No. 5 would face the No. 4, which will either be the Yankees or the Blue Jays who have the same record going into Sunday’s finale, tied at 93-68.
The Yankees host the Orioles and the Blue Jays host the Rays. Toronto holds the tiebreaker if they finish the season tied.
The Tigers and Guardians are also tied at 87-74 atop
