DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Hundreds of community members gathered Saturday morning for the Northland Heart Walk, taking steps toward a healthier future while raising awareness for cardiovascular disease and stroke.
The event, organized by the American Heart Association, drew more than 300 participants for a family-friendly walk aimed at supporting research and education.
“Heart disease is still the number one cause of death, and it affects so many people across the U.S.,” said Briana Johnson, Heart Walk director. “Whether someone is living with cardiovascular disease or has lost a loved one to heart disease or stroke, we raise awareness and funds all year long to fight it.”
This year’s walk raised more than $33,000 to benefit the association’s mission.
