A family whose 'very active' dad died from an asbestos-related cancer believe it may be linked to his former job in Leamington Spa . Raghbir Singh Kahlon died less than six months after being diagnosed with the illness and had previously worked at the Ford Foundry.
Raghbir, who was originally from India, was employed at the Ford Foundry in Leamington between 1966 and 1981. It was one of the largest employers in Warwickshire for more than 60 years before it closed down in 2007.
Before Raghbir died, he recalled working on a production line where molten metal was poured into moulds to make components for cars and agricultural vehicles. It is understood that the pipework was covered with asbestos and in 'poor condition.'
