A neighbourhood on the outskirts of Bristol has been pictured in its heyday when hundreds of day-trippers would head for its coastline. Although technically at the mouth of a river rather than the seaside, Severn Beach was a booming resort for decades.

The Bristol Post archive records memories from people who used to live and work there when the tourism trade was at its peak. A 2003 article from George Burke reflected on his time in Severn Beach in the 1950s, when he ran a mobile snack bar there with his sister. He recalled there being a dodgem track, fairground stalls and the "Blue Lagoon pool, which had diving boards, a paddling pool and water fountain".
