COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A man is facing attempted rape charges after allegedly attacking a teenage girl who was walking home from school this week on the East Side.

According to court documents, Cory Middlebrook, 35, is facing attempted rape and kidnapping in sexual activity charges after officers were called to the Shady Lane neighborhood.

Columbus police arrived at the intersection of Shady Lane Road and Dundee Avenue, where the 17-year-old victim told police a man attacked her after she got off of her school bus and began walking home. The victim claimed that Middlebrook grabbed her from behind and shoved her to the ground.

The victim told police that Middlebrook held her down as he attempted to rape her but that he fled the area after she repeatedly tried to kick and punch him. Poli
