NEW YORK (PIX11) — After weeks of speculation about his future in the upcoming election, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced the end of his reelection campaign on Sunday.
Adams' announcement comes not even a month after an emphatic news conference outside of Gracie Mansion, where he vowed to be the one to overcome Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.
"I am in this race, and I am the only one who can beat Mamdani,” Adams said on Sept. 5.
On Sunday, Adams claimed that the speculation and rumors about his campaign are ultimately what led to the decision to call it quits on an attempt at reelection.
