NEW YORK (PIX11) — The New York Mets were eliminated from postseason contention on the last day of the regular season in a loss to the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

The Mets' postseason dreams turned to familiar end-of-season nightmares as the Marlins scored four runs in the fourth inning to open the scoring against Brooks Raley, Ryne Stanek and Tyler Rodgers.

Two things needed to happen on Sunday for New York to make it back to October: the Mets to win against Miami and for the Cincinnati Reds to lose to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Reds took a quick 2-0 lead in Milwaukee, but lost it quickly in a four-run fourth inning for the Brewers. Milwaukee beat Cincinnati 4-2. The Mets' hopes of finding a way to the Wild Card round were short-lived, though.
