DENTON, Texas — Police arrested two people Sunday after a parking lot dispute turned deadly in North Texas, officials announced.

According to the Denton Police Department, officers got a call about a fight in the parking lot of the QuikTrip at 321 Eagle Drive just before 1 a.m. Denton PD said that while on the phone with dispatchers, the caller heard gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot, the department said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 24-year-old Luis Carranza. The medical examiner determined Carranza had been shot in the chest, ruling his manner of death a homicide.
