NORTHPORT, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Northport Police Department started investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday near Highway 43 and Highway 171, according to a post made on the department's Facebook page.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes. The NPD stated all lanes of Highway 43 are closed because of the investigation. Highway 171 is open.
