A 27-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Jersey City early Sunday morning, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Shortly after 5 a.m., responding officers found Jamaal George, of Jersey City, with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body in the area of Union Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

George was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5:30 a.m., authorities said.

The cause and manner of George’s death are being investigated by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, officials said.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon, according to the prosecutor’s office.
