LARAMIE — As colleges nationwide experience shrinking enrollment and waning public trust, the University of Wyoming is charting modest doubling down on innovation and workforce preparedness.

Speaking during the second day of the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees’ three days of meetings, UW President Ed Seidel reported Thursday that fall enrollment has climbed slightly to 10,819 students. The freshman class grew to 1,444 first-time, full-time students, which is the second-largest group of Wyoming residents in nearly two decades.

Beyond enrollment, innovation also has become a central focus. The university hosted its first Innovation Week, showcasing entrepreneurship, research partnerships and the creation of a student entrepreneurship club.
