State lawmakers are weighing in after the resignation of Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters, with senators saying the transition marks an opportunity to restore stability to education leadership.

On this week’s edition of Your Vote Counts, Sen. Julia Kirt (D–Oklahoma City) said Walters’ departure was not surprising.

“He's following his own job ambitions instead of serving kids, and that's been true ever since he began in public office,” Kirt said. “This is really a moment when we need to turn the page. come together and make sure we're focused on kids again,”
