Daylight saving time, a time change considered by many as being pesky, began on March 9. In fact, a Gallup poll from January found 54% of Americans aren’t in favor of daylight saving time. That’s compared to the 73% who were in favor in 1999 when Gallup last measured people’s opinions on daylight saving time.
In California, voters took it even further in 2018 when they passed Proposition 7, authorizing the Legislature to go to standard or daylight saving time year-round. Seven years later, there has been no change in the state — that would require a two-thirds majority in the Legislature, the governor’s signature and congressional action — and that hasn’t happened.
