Motorists traveling through Lehigh County should prepare for lane restrictions and potential delays as multiple construction projects begin across the region this week.
The most significant impacts will occur on Interstate 78, where PennDOT contractors will conduct nighttime construction work on both eastbound and westbound lanes. Eastbound I-78 between Exit 57 (Lehigh Street) and Exit 60 (Route 309) are experiencing lane restrictions nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. They started on Sunday and continuing through Friday. The work affects areas in Allentown, Salisbury and Upper Saucon townships.
Westbound I-78 construction began Monday, with lane restrictions scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Saturday. This work spans from Exit 67 (Route 412) to Exit 60A/60B (Route 309) in Upper Sauco
