AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 10-year-old boy walked to the fire department for help after being shot in the face on Sunday afternoon, the Akron Police Department confirmed.

APD said officers went to the 400 block of Palmetto Avenue for a shooting at approximately 12:32 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28.

Before officers arrived, they learned the victim left the scene and walked about a block away to Akron Fire Department Station 13 at 1544 Brown Street, said APD.

Officers arrived to find a 10-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wound in his face, according to APD.

Paramedics treated him before taking him to Akron Children’s Hospital with what APD believes are non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were able to find a firearm on scene, according to APD.
