A woman accused of setting a fire at a house in the middle of a birthday party last summer has been arrested, the St. George Fire Department said.

Destiny Cosey was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Sept. 24 on a count of aggravated arson for the incident that happened on July 15 at 17540 Azalea Lakes Avenue.

A person who witnessed the incident reported it to St. George firefighters the following day. They and other witnesses said that Cosey used a cup of gasoline to ignite a box of gifts and adjacent patio furniture on the back patio of the residence.

The burned items were positioned next to the rear exterior wall of the house, where both children and adults were at a birthday party, St. George Fire Department said in a news release.
