UPDATE: The owner of a local business is defending his company after officials with the Chattanooga Public Works Department told residents to beware of what the city called “bogus" flyers about potential code violations that were being distributed.
In an email with the subject line “Bogus code violation letters” that was sent to media outlets by the city on September 15, officials said the flyers, which may encourage homeowners to sell their property or hire the company for repairs, were not affiliated with or endorsed by the city and were not from the Chattanooga's Land Development Office or any other department.
The city of Chattanooga said it does not send private companies to solicit business from residents based on code violations.
