Hillshire Brands, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, has initiated a recall of approximately 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products across the United States. This recall follows reports of wood pieces being found embedded in the batter, leading to injuries for at least five consumers.
The recall affects "State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick" and "Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick" products , which were produced between March 17 and September 26 at a facility in Haltom City, Texas. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the issue was discovered after multiple consumer complaints. Hillshire Brands determined that wooden sticks inadvertently entered the production process before the batter was applied.
