If you ask six-year-old Hamish Robson what his favourite thing about the Perth Royal Show is, his answer is pretty clear.
“The rollercoasters,” he says.
But a very close runner-up were the cows in the Cattle Corner, where Hamish got the chance to give junior Highland bull Thomas a pat and a carrot.
It was a fitting treat for Thomas, who was celebrating his first birthday on Monday as thousands of West Australians flocked to the show on Monday on the King’s Birthday public holiday.
And apart from a healthy birthday snack, the feed also helped with a great cause.
“Three years ago, we decided to start feeding a cow a carrot for gold coin donation, and all the funds go to Black Dog ride,” Highland cattle breeder Nathan Perry said.
