CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) - The Cleveland Guardians have announced that Gavin Williams is the starting pitcher for game one of the American League Wild Card Series against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

This season, Williams has posted a record of 12-5 with a 3.06 ERA. In 31 starts, he has tossed 167.2 innings, allowing 57 earned runs on 130 hits with 173 strikeouts.

Williams will be opposed by Detroit's Tarik Skubal, the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner.

This season, Skubal has posted a record of 13-6 with a 2.21 ERA this season. he 195.1 innings, he has piled up 241 strikeouts.

The Guardians and Tigers will play game one of the best-of-three series on Tuesday at 1:08 p.m. on ESPN.
