An officer who was stabbed by a suspect last week is now recovering at home, Fort Wayne police said today.
The unnamed officer was injured while responding to a call of a domestic disturbance Sept. 22 in the 2100 block of St. Marys Avenue. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer was released from the hospital over the weekend, Sgt. Jonathan Cutler, public information officer, said in an email. He did not share the extent of the officer's injuries.
At least one officer fired a weapon after the stabbing, and the suspect was killed. Jacob Lee Leckenby, 33, died of multiple gunshot wounds. Officers involved in the shooting have also not been named.
