A CCTV appeal has been launched after a sweet-toothed thief struck at a Staffordshire convenience store and cleared its shelves of confectionery.

A thief visited the Spar shop in Masefield Drive in the Leyfields area of Tamworth on Thursday, September 18.

He then swiped sweets worth around £200 at around 2.30pm.

Now Staffordshire Police has issued CCTV images of a man its officers would like to speak to in connection with the shoplifting incident.

The man is white, with short black hair and clean-shaven.

He is wearing a black Nike tracksuit with white blocks on the sleeves and around the pockets on both the jacket and trousers.

He is also pictured carrying a black rucksack over his right shoulder.
