Ahmad Hardy leads the nation in rushing, and it isn’t particularly close.

The Missouri football running back got a little bit of a helping hand as he added 130 yards and three touchdowns to his season total on Saturday in a 42-6 win over UMass on Faurot Field. The player he has been in lockstep with at the top of the national rushing leaderboard through the opening weeks of the 2025 season, UTSA tailback Robert Henry, was idle last weekend. That let Hardy surge to the top spot.

Hardy is now — by more than 100 yards — the nation’s leading rusher.

That’s impressive, but it only tells a fraction of the tale of the running back’s fantastic start to life at Mizzou. So good, that some mostly local-to-Columbia Heisman Trophy whispers might soon break out into national conversation.
