INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A man is sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing two people in Independence in 2021.
A judge sentenced Steven B. Turner, Jr. , of Higginsville, to serve a total of 55 years in prison.
Turner pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, armed criminal action and involuntary manslaughter. This is how his sentence breaks down:

The judge ordered the sentences to run consecutively, or one after another.
According to court records , Independence police responded to a home on May 23, 2021. Officers found two victims in a vehicle that had several bullet holes in it. Both victims had gunshot wounds and later died from their injuries.
