PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School varsity boys’ soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie in a home conference game against Cranston West on Saturday.

Sophomore Wyatt Woll scored the Patriots’ only goal, in the first half. Another sophomore, Shane Rogers, got an assist.

Portsmouth had eight shots on goal, with two each from Rogers and seniors John Casey and Nolan Fox.

The Patriots’ goaltender, senior James Hackett, had seven saves.

Portsmouth is now 2-4-2 in Division I and 2-5-2 overall.

The team was scheduled to play East Providence on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and then Moses Brown on Saturday, Oct. 4, North Kingstown on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and Central on Thursday, Oct. 9.
